Focal Press Photography Contest:
Just because we may create most of our work on a computer, doesn’t mean everyone wants to do their reading digitally. In light of that, if you aren’t hip to Focal Press you should be. Focal Press has a great selection of books for the creative minded individual that want to improve their production skills. They have a great selection of titles covering all aspects of photography, film & video, video games, theater and more. They are even getting into video learning (see clip below).
Focal Press is very supportive to the GraphicDesignNYC creative community. In the past they have been so kind as to sponsor one of our Creative Collaboration and Team Building Meetups that we held at Wix Lounge. We always like to repay the favor with letting our community know when they are doing special things over there. This month Focal Press is holding their photography contest centered around Street Photography. It is out rich and organic tapestry of unique people, charismatic energy and spectacular architecture that makes New Yorker’s LOVE street photography. We encourage you to enter this contest and be sure to send us information about your entry so we can post it here also! Good luck.

The theme for the February contest is “STREET PHOTOGRAPHY” sponsored by The Photographer’s Story by Michael Freeman.
Photography’s greatest success has been in storytelling, based on its unique ability to capture images from reality. In The Photographer’s Story, best-selling author Michael Freeman encourages and guides readers, using examples from his own experiences and assignments, and from the rich history of documentary photography, to find their own direction and themes, and ultimately capture stories of their own. This month share with us the stories you have captured on the streets of your hometown.
Michael Freeman is a renowned international photographer and writer who specializes in travel, architecture, and Asian art. He is particularly well known for his expertise in special effects. He has been a leading photographer for the Smithsonian magazine for many years, and has worked for Time-Life Books and Reader’s Digest. Michael is the author of more than 20 photographic books, including the hugely successful The Photographer’s Eye.
