We’ve covered book shelf porn in past articles here at GraphicDesignNYC. We have also covered some very interesting uses of CD-Rom media in an museum environment. But many people love to see location based art intersect with the common structures that surround them in everyday life. Madrid based creative, Alicia Martin has built a particularly enlightened series of artistic, architectural compositions using books, building and sidewalks to bring urban waterfalls to life.
“Biografies” consists of three installations where Martin uses up to 5,000 books which seem to burst out of the windows of historic buildings and splash on the streets below. This surreal defiance of gravity is supported by an metal skeleton mesh which the books are actually fused to.
