Erik Johansson, Surrealistic Digital Retoucher:
Erik Johansson is known for his creative and imaginative photography and photo manipulations. This 24-year-old Swedish engineering student, currently studying for a Masters Program in Interactive Design, started photography in his mid teens. He started digital photo manipulation around and since then has not looked back. In his mind manipulating prints one can see the influences of Salvador Dali and M.C.Escher.
Attention to details:
Photoshop and other photo retouching software is considered common place on most images we see in print and online. Some art sheer artistry and others are… well some are incredibly dubious when it comes to ‘enhancing’ photographic reality. But when you go thru Johansson’s portfolio, you instantly notice that it’s hard to see any tell tale signs where reality the real world and the imaginative merge. A typical photo job could take 10 to 20 hours of work, not to mention that he takes all of the pictures himself instead of trolling the web like most would do.
In this Ted Talks video he explains his creative process.
